The "ghoti" example, even in jest, is inane.

Nowhere in the English language is an initial "gh" pronounced as an [f].

Nowhere in the English language is a final "ti" pronounced as [sh].

English has *contextual spelling* - that is, the sound of a letter or pair of letters is dependent on position and/or surrounding letters.
