the second one, don't add unnecessary words into a sentence. keep it simple

The second one is correct. It is not the matter of simplicity. You use Present Perfect to state the fact " 'My husband and I have travelled to Cambodia.", you use Simple Past when you specify the time of the event "My husband and I travelled to Cambodia last year."
