of even consistency?

Is there a more condensed way to say "of even consistency"?
Because I want to say "The clay is thin and of even consistency." But if I said it this way, it would seem pretty akward... |

Why? ... Hmmm...Doesn't it sound awkward?
I thought that "thin" (one word) and "of even consistency" (three words) linked by "and" doesn't seem very balanced... |
