Funny thing, Ed. We are very proud of her for what she's achieved, but I have the same impression of her. Only ever seen about two of her movies myself. But still, I do admire her for what she made of herself, knowing her history :)

Not really Ed, she grew up on what we call a smallholding. That's like a VERY SMALL farm. People who live on a smallholding usually have a few chicken, perhaps a small maize field, but have some other job to keep it going. But it is not a farm, because you cannot make a living out of it. Her father was an alcoholic and made a habit out of hitting both her mother and her when he was drunk. Finally her mother shot him when he was drunk. She was found not guilty in court, as it was clearly out of self defence. Her father's family recently tried to cash in on her fame, but with little success
