Ewan McGregor is 100% Scottish and he comes from Stirling. Just outside that city is the Wallace Monument on top of it's brae...a memorial to Braveheart - Sir William Wallace, Scotland's national hero murdered by the English.
Ewan has never used RP as far as I know! He was on TV today being interviewed because he is currently on stage in London's West End in a new musical production of Guys and Dolls, playing the part of Sky Masterson. I noticed from his interview that his Scottish accent seems to have become a wee bit more muted...he sounded a bit strange to me. I noticed it particularly as I am Scottish myself and most of the accents I hear around me all day are local ones. His accent definitely seems to have changed a wee bit....I'm sorry about that! :-(

He sounds Scottish to me, in interviews, but he takes on various accents for his roles.

I think he does an RP-ish accent in Star Wars.
