Dutch Adventures Part III

Hey Sander!

Thanks for all your help so far.

I've been busy lately but I'm back with two samples!

1/ You told me my Nl<uw> sounded too much like En<you>. How is it now? http://monovelli.club.fr/uw_zoon.mp3 [nl]

2/ I'm trying to learn Dutch vowels. In the following recording, a Dutch speaker pronounces a word, then I try to repeat it. The words we are speaking are the Dutch for En <bath>, <bed>, <beetroot>, <bit>, <bite>, <boat> and <bone>.
How are my vowels? I think I don't pronounce the vowel very well in the Dutch word for En<bit>...

Thanks!

Wauw! "Dutch Adventures Part III" what a title!

Your 'Uw' is very good now (keep working on the 'hoe')

And your vowels are good to,as for 'beet' ,your EE is a bit short but its not that much of a problem.

New attempts:

1/ I think my NL<hoe> is better here: http://monovelli.club.fr/uw_zoon2.mp3

2/ I've tried to make my <ee> longer in NL<beet> but I'm not sure I succeeded: http://monovelli.club.fr/7_words_nl_2.mp3

Your improving, the HOE is much better now,BEET as well the only major error I see is ZOON,the Z in 'zoon' is very harsh. You tend "sSsSsSoon" is the (Dutch) Z hard for francophones?
Question to Sander   Saturday, June 11, 2005, 09:35 GMT
Why all Dutch men look the same: they are very tall, slim and have long, horse-like faces?
Yann   Saturday, June 11, 2005, 09:44 GMT
<<is the (Dutch) Z hard for francophones?>>

I don't know. Perhaps I'm not used to that sound so I tend to not even notice it and hear a <s> instead. I'll work on that.
