Jewellery and Nationalities

Does any nationality have a particular partiality for a stone or jewellery of some
kind. Strange question, I know. I raise it because I went to some markets on the
weekend and was told how Eastern European I looked and how Eastern Europeans love
amber (which I kind of knew). I wear a chain of amber around my neck. So I was wondering,
what about you and how do you say your gems in your culture?
