what does "if you are in the market for a bridge..." mean?
|
|
It means you are interested in buying a bridge. A better example would be something like "I'm in the market for a new car," meaning "I am looking for a new car."

I'd guess that the original post is an allusion to the "Brooklyn Bridge" in New York City.
So, "if you are in the market for a bridge" would mean something like "if you are looking to be scammed".
Note: With local and state governments strapped for funds, maybe the privatization trend will eventually reach the Brooklyn Bridge. I can just see the newspaper headlines now:
"Psst -- wanna buy the Brooklyn Bridge?"
