asking about the weather

Which one is correct: How was the weather? or What was the weather like?
"I had good weather", "the weather was good", "It was good weather"?
Thanks in advance!

It depends on who you ask. If you ask someone in Ireland about the weather you will likely get an answer such as "not bad", "It's raining", "It's a soft day", "Close" or something similar.

If you ask an American about the weather you should be ready to receive a METAR.

(I know this because I am a dual US Irish citizen and have spent many years in both countries)
