I don't know which is the language of the official documents of Euro 2008.

I would like too which is the language in the match. I think that in the match the referee talk to everybody in English. But not everybody speak it....

I think that Italian, Spanish, German and French are also used in some matches. What do you think?

I think all the players will know at least the football vocabulary even if they aren't fluent in English. Most international sports stars speak English well these days anyway. Have you ever seen an interview where the player didn't know English? I haven't.

It's kind of ironic though that it'd be in English since there are no English-speaking countries competing. Ha ha ha.

FIFA has 4 official languages: English, German, French and Spanish.

The official website is multilingual: 10 languages, including Chinese.

A lot of players only speak a basic English. A lot of them speak Italian and Spanish too, because they play in Italy and Spain respectively.

I'm sure the umpires are multilingual too.

The referee would often use body language, hand signals and the beloved "red card, yellow card" in one's pocket.

Austria is German speaker.
Switzerland is German/French/Italian speaker.

So Euro 2008 is GERMAN/French/Italian speaker.

Well, judging by the size of the Portuguese community in Switzerland, one of the languages of the Euro 08 could be Portuguese as well... =O

Germany was humiliated by Horvatia, so I don't think it will be German.

Why Israel can't participate on Eurocup if they took part in Eurovision?
Guest   Fri Jun 13, 2008 11:45 am GMT
Because they didn't qualify!
