Theres no need for 50-11 different official languages in a single country; its counter productive, and only adds to confusion. A nation that isn't unified by a common language, isn't a nation at all; thats why Belgium is in shambles and isn't really a country.

You're the one looking at it though! The Latins only do it because the French demand it! Those are only a few Hispanics out of millions, but they do it to satisfy a whole nation of French!

"Why are the French so afraid of minority languages?"

Cause we are prety aware of what's going on with languages in Spain, like for example Mario Vargas LLosa and other authors signing a manifesto that claim for the Spanish children's right to be eduated at school in their mother tongue, Spanish, and not in the language some stupid local politician think they should speak.

Some of those Spanish local politician who wish Spain to be defeated by Russia tonight, and say it openly on the telly. Spain is a country where children education is in charge of people who want their national teams to lose in every competition they play. How weird is that?

Serious? Do you reckon anarchic people would tolerate politicians taking away their children (compulsory education) and drowning them in a foreign language (Linguistic immersion)? All this witout lifting a finger? What a shame of anarchics.

As well as to know that the conservative party has actually gone along with the linguistic immersion since the 80's. The only relevant person inside the party brave enough as to stand against it was immediately decapitated by the, at that time, president of the government José Mª Aznar López.

So, this fight has been carried out almost exclusively by groups of parents. Anyway, it's nice to see people like Vargas Llosa or Esperanza Aguirre behind.
