spanish & italian footballers - which language?

I watched a football game between Italy and Spain and the players were constantly talking to one another. Does anyone know what language they use? My guess is they speak their own language, but they clearly understand both languages. Is this because ALL italians/Spanish can understand both languages, or because as footballers they have been exposed to foreign leagues etc?

They spoke in Spanish. Many Italian footballers play in the Spanish league.

Alemania no ganará, es un país corrompido por sangre no aria. Prefiero que gane España.

No they can't if they haven't learned it. Orally, they just could catch some, but it is otfen enough to basic speaches. That is why Italian and Spanish are considered two deparated languages.

That said I bet that most of them know a lot of the other language because a lot of footballers in Europe speak a lot of language because they generally play in international local teams.

Also, if there are insults all people know what it means. Remember Materazzi insulting Zidane, what is in French or italian? We don't know but those bothfootballers were actually knowing the language of the other.
