Europe has always hated the US. All the people the Europeans tried to murder (Jews, gypsies, Catholics, other "undesirables") fled to the United States and helped make it the most powerful country in the world. The Europeans still want to and still do murder all those people (particularly the gypsies), so their racism, anti-semitism, and hatred have never gone away.
I think that's one of the secret dark underbellies as to why the Europeans hate Americans. Of course they'll deny it by saying the Americans are racist sexist evil scum, all the while they commit genocide right in their own backyard. Charming hypocrisy.
