If a girl said this, does this ONLY imply sex and nothing else?

Can this also be used to mean that she just hung out with him, like in a shopping mall?

Well - even if she only said it with the intention of being non-sexual, people would still understand it as sexual - much better to say

"I spent time with my boyfriend yesterday' or 'I went into town with my boyfriend yesterday'
