Top ten languages

I was reading several webpages and I can write the top ten languages. It is updated and it shows a lot of amazing things:

1. Chinese
2. English
3. Spanish
4. Hindi
5. Arabic

6. Russian
7. Urdu
8. Indonesian
9. Bengali
10. Portuguese

There are several interesting points:

A. The importance of Asian languages. There are 6.
B. Only 2 European languages are in the top 5: English and Spanish.
C. Several languages with a big prestigious, like French, German and Japanese are not in the top ten.
D. Several languages that are in the top ten are almost unknown in Western World, like Urdu or Indonesian.

What do you think about?

This topic has been discussed several times on Antinoom and it's pretty boring and annoying, all in all it's just a subject to start a fight amongst the forumers as usual.

I read that French, German and Japanese are not in the updated top ten. French fanatics will be very nervous and touchy and will post a lot of insults against other people and Schumacher...

But German and Japanese people don't care two hoots not to be in the top ten...

Why this different attitude?

to leao,

Kiristav is spoken mainly in North Coastal Goa and parts of Daman and Diu in India. It is said to be a dialect of the main language Konkani, but is no way related to the language....so it's more like a sister language that's spoken in the same territory. It's closely related to:

Nawaits
Kudali
Kukna (which is said to be a bit more Dutch influenced).

and more distantly related to:
Kristi (which is portuguese creole)

It's been heavily influenced by the muslims, christians (French and Portuguese, and also Hindi/Konkani).
