C++ or Java - which one should I start with?
I would study C and C++ before Java.
Although Java has eliminated the need to use pointers. You will need to come to grips with pointers in C & C++.

C++ and Java are both popular, but I think more you can get more jobs with Java experience. Java is easier as well. That said, I think C++ would be better to learn first.
