ego by putting my two cents in? " what does "two cents" mean? 2) What's the name of the thing that they put on top of cop's cars?
1) It's a term that means a person's opinion. I have no idea where the use came from.
Example of use: A: I want to bungee jump off the Bay Bridge. What do you guys think? B: I think it's a bad idea. It's kind of dangerous. C: Well, that's your two cents. I think it would be really great and they have all kinds of precautions set up these days. 2) A siren.
If the thing on the top of a car goes the whole width of the car, then it is a ``light bar''. Othwerise, it's just a light (or lights, as in ``He turned his lights on'' when the policeman turned on the flashing lights on top of the car.)
