When all people say that Chinese is one of the most important languages, there is no strong demand for the language in Western World.

Perhaps, the difficulty of the language, prevents from being studied at school in Europe or USA.

Students prefer English and Spanish, labeled as easy languages and with a Latin alphabet. Even German is very easy in comparison with Chinese.

So, Chinese won't be an important language in Western World. Even in Asia, it is no clear if people in Vietnam, Japan or South Korea are going to study this language instead of European ones, more known and easy, at least when they are written.

Maybe in a decade or two, you'll see more demand for Chinese.

Once the major portion of scientific research is published first in Chinese, and most software comes from China, knowledge of Chinese may become essential in the technical professions.
