What do the couple sentences mean?

Urgent questions   Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:47 pm GMT
1 But for many African-Ameircan women like me, just a little of her poise, confidence and intelligence will go a long way in changing an image that's been around for far too long.

Does the sentence mean that just a little of her poise, confidence and intelligence will be greatly helpful to change an image that's been around for far too long? Or does it mean that there is still a long way to go tochange an image that's been around for far too long; just a little of her poise, confidence and intelligence is not enough?

2 Keep yr thoughts, yr belifes, and your ideas to yourself, or to what you might want to say some day, some place to someone!

Is the above sentence gramtically correct? Or is there sth missing in the part "to what you might want to say some day, some place to someone"? What on earth does it mean?

Thanks!

As you put it

1. - "the sentence mean that just a little of her poise, confidence and intelligence will be greatly helpful to change an image that's been around for far too long"
---

2. Keep yr thoughts, yr belifes, and your ideas to yourself, or to what you might want to say some day, some place to someone!

Keep your thoughts your "beliefs" and your ideas to yourself, (sounds okay)

Or to what you might want to say someday, some place to someone (sounds a little strange, sounds like a speech but can't really place it sorry.)
