As a people, I mean. They always act super nice and friendly, but there\'s almost always a hidden agenda of some sort. This is especially true of upper-middle class and upper class Brazilians. Have you ever heard them speak about the poor of their own country? My god!
Why are Brazilians so hypocritical?
In Brazilian society what's implied or hinted at is more important than what's actually uttered. And you seldom say what you really think.
Why do people ask such stupid questions? Why are people as idiotic as Franco allowed to live, the poor souls with no lives that sit in front of their PC all day masturbating to hentai porn, or as they like in spain, inbreeding? I think these questions are about in the same line as this one.
This forum has become a free-for-all trollfest where people hone their trolling skills unabashedly. That said, the question is legitimate about a peculiar Brazilian trait. It's ironic to see so many here "defending" Brazil and its variation of the Portuguese language, when in real life they spend most of their time complaining about Brazil's troubles (always, of course, by *others*) and butchering the language in various ways.
Portuguese in Brazil is like food, you eat it to become shit.
It's not being celebrated because it's has no artistic value: it is to be consumed and thrown away, feito a brisa.

Gate, yes you are right in the respect that Brazilians love to complain about Brazil. But it does not mean that because we complain about it, we do not love it.
Said Ren:
<< Gate, yes you are right in the respect that Brazilians love to complain about Brazil.>>
Not only about Brazil, but about the "other" Brazilian. You know, the one who is
not quite like "us". And then "we" complain about the racism of a stupid Spaniard,
as if that wasn't ingrained in the collective Brazilian subconsciousness.
<< But it does not mean that because we complain about it, we do not love it. >>
"We" love an image of Brazil from which we exclude all the undesirables, and God
forbid a foreigner ever mentions "them" as being also part (a major part, actually)
of our beautiful imaginary country.

Race is more a question of social status in Brazil than anything else. For example if you are mulatto (more than 50% of Brazilians are) but are economically successful you may consider yourself as "white". For example nobody would consider Brazilian football player Ronaldo to be white in Spain or in USA, but he does consider himself as "white".
Look at him:

¿Do you think he is white? Well, according to himself he is :
"Acho que todos os negros sofrem. Eu, que sou branco, sofro com tamanha ignorância."
- falando sobre racismo no futebol, em entrevista ao jornal Folha de São Paulo
- Revista Veja; Edição 1907 . 1° de junho de 2005
Many "white Brazilians" are in reality like Ronaldo, so don't believe statistics about Brazilian racial make up. Pardos or mulattos represent 75% of population at least. Also Ronaldo was involved in a sexual scandal with three transvestites. Very Brazilian though.

but racism is everywhere, its not only with "we" brazilians. I see no difference in such, as with other countries. None at all. Everything you said there, happens everywhere, not only in Brazil.
You are full of shit...lol Ronaldo does not consider himself white...prove it that he said that. Shut the fuck up...god I love when stupid retards probably from toilet land.
In Brazil Barack Obama would pass for a very white person, almost natural blond.
