European Union: English, French, German, and Italian
World: English, French, Russian and Arabic Languages in both lists: English and French, the true Global languages. Spanish has a very bad place in European Union (6th) and South America (2nd). So, it is confirmed that it is the most important language NOWHERE. French is important in North America (2nd), Africa (1st), European Union (2nd) and Antarctica (2nd). In South America is official in the UNASUR and Mercosur and it is co-official language in NATO (Europe and Western Hemisphere)
I would go as far to say italian has more influence in europe than spanish.

Right. Spanish may havemore students than Italian according to Eurobarometer modified by hispanics but none of them speak Spanish even in a very basic level. In addition those so called "Spanish speakers" outside Spain are merely those who learned to understand Sit simply because they already kspeak Italian.
Italia, Si eso te hace feliz "acepto tigre como animal doméstico" que no haría un latino por un italiano ; pero cuando despiertes me avisas.
