Most important language in Europe after English?

I guess it's a fight between German and French. Spanish finds it's importance in the Western hemisphere, and within Europe isn't really any more important than Italian.

Exactly.

In Equatorial Africa and Western Sahara (Africa), Spanish giving way to French.

In the Philippines and Guam/Marianas (Asia-Pacific), Spanish is already DEAD.

What's more bothering to Hispanics is in Spain, Spanish is not only threatened by Catalan, Galician, and Basque languages but also by Asturian, Aragonese, and Leonese that are now declared as separate languages from Spanish. The last 3 are now used not only as medium of instruction but also in official purposes and broadcasting.

! Es tan exponencial la curva que asusta!

y este es el motivo.
