Why it is more acceptable that women adopt manly traits rather than vice-versa? For example it's ok that women wear trousers but not that men wear high-heeled shoes.

I think it's Germany. Feminine German women are not respected. Probably has to do with their language being the most lesbian sounding one in Europe.
