In Eurovision Song Contest 2010:
Germany wins singing in English:
Lena - Satellite (Germany)

French did better than Spanish
France - "Allez Olla Olé"

Daniel Diges - Algo Pequeñito (Spain)

So, Spanish failed.

Confirmed: Germans prefer English than their native language.

I think that Eurovision is eurotrash at its best. Spain should retire from that joke like Italiy did. Spanish language has too much class to participate in a event crowded by slavics singing in English that do not know anything about art and singing. Now even the Germans sing in English, what a shame!

90% of the countries singing in English defeats the object in my view.

Spanish eurovision singers are crap, chiquilicuatre, hay quien manea mi barca quien, el pequeñito, and so on.

Eurovision has became a clown circus. And everybody can enter in scene to fun.
Carlos I de España   Mon May 31, 2010 9:10 am GMT
Yeah, I agree,
what disgusts me most is that the counting of votes is done in English and French !!!

I mean, who needs to listen to "rullumini, du puants", and things like that, totally vomitive ...

P.S.
I didn't know Italy had withdrawn from Eurovision.
Italians sometimes have flashes of common sense that surprise me pleasantly. Sometimes.

Huh? Flashes? What is common sense if not Berlusconi?

Spain should retire like Italy did and to sing in the Latin American Contests in Spanish. Even Italy can go also to the Latin American Contests. I think that both countries would be more confortable there.

In Eurovision all countries but France and Spain, sing in English nowadays. And France and Spain know that NEVER WILL WIN AGAIN in their languages.

Germany lost the identity singing in English and Italy prefer to go out of Eurovision. The price to win for Germany is too high. It is a pitty for them!

Eurovision is almost dead and France and Spain should go out yet!

In Kenya, French is the 1st foreign
language taught, and the demand
for French language continues
to grow, as Kenyans increasingly
interact with Francophone countries
in Africa. The success of the courses
of the Alliance Française of Nairobi
and the dynamism of its network
confirm this rise. I would also like to
acknowledge the work of the KATF
which contributes greatly to the promotion of the
French language in Kenya.

Under its strong and dynamic leadership, teachers
and students of the French language join forces
with other organizations (CPF and Club RFI), as
key partners of our linguistic cooperation. This
is aimed at strengthening the French language
and Francophonie, under the motto of promoting
cultural diversity, as stated in the Unesco
Convention.

In this issue, we present the actors who mobilize
their efforts to make the French language come
alive and help Francophony grow in Kenya. I
hope this issue will convince you to join the big
community of Francophony!

Elisabeth Barbier,
French Ambassador to Kenya
