could you guess my accent?

"Not that this can't be true, but more likely than not, if he* was from USA, he'd speak English already. We have foreigners, of course, but there are English-learners all across the globe. So I see no reason that he must be from the USA. "
I think he was being sarcastic, read between the lines.

Guest,
what could you recommend to make my accent less noticable?

You could move to another country and pick up the accent of the natives or listen to T.V. programmes and try to talk like the actors. Personaly, I don't see why you shold be concerned what your accent sounds like as long as it can be understood. I can understand it, anyway.

Thank you.
BTW - what country are you from?
I am a Russian guy. Maybe you understand it becouse you are a slav too?

I'm from IRELAND. Definitely not Slavic. We do have quite a large number of people from Eastern Europe over here at the moment. Mostly they are from Estonia or Latvia.

Guest,
12 years ago I was in Dublin for 3 weeks.
Irish accent is not easy if people don't try to be clear.
If they try - they are absolutely understandable.

You would get used to it after a while. Anyway, I wouldn’t consider the Dublin Jackeen to be a true Irish accent. Even Irish people from outside of Dublin find it hard to understand a person from Dublin. They're unusual to say the least.
