In this work,
when it shall be found
that much is omitted,
let it not be forgotten
that much likewise
is performed.
Dr. Samuel Johnson

Dr. Jackson wrote the first dictionary. This is reminding people that if they should find a word that he hasn't included in his dictionary, they should remember that most of the publications out that were like his book, were performed (they were plays). I believe he is making a cryptic refence to Shakespeare who is credited with inventing many English words, for the purpose of his plays.
