The title is self-explanatory.
Does anybody here speak a Celtic language?
Nope, we're different people.
Here're some basic phrases to wet your appetite:
Dia duit (pron. jeeah ditch) = hello
Dia is muire duit (pron. jeas muruh ditch) = the reply
Cad é mar atá tú (pron. cah jay mar taah too) = how are you
go maith (pron. guh my) = well
slán (pron. slaan) = good bye
I speak Donegal Irish. The pronunciations I've given you are therefore based on that dialect. There are three: Connaught, Munster and Ulster (which includes Donegal).
Regards,
Ben.

Hi Ben,
My son and I will be traveling to Donegal in a few weeks. We will have the opportunity to interact with the Donegal people. My heritage is Irish and I would love to be able to speak some basic Ulster or Donegal Irish. Any tips or do you know a good website that would allow me to hear and repeat the words I would need to know?
Thanks so much!
Barbara
