Ich habe Deutsch in der Schule gelernt. Es wäre schade, es zu vergessen. Nächstes Jahr gehe ich wahrscheinlich nach Deutschland für drei Monate und deshalb brauche ich Deutsch zu sprechen.
Hi everyone. I am american living in Europe for 10 years (most in Germany). I speak german and french fluently, and some czech. Now I must say that the more languages that I learn, the more I learn to LOVE ENGLISH as the greatest language in the world. I mean I love european languages, they just have one (or 2) fatal errors that they have not grown out of. The first is an insistance on wanting to call inanimate objects 'he' or 'she'. It is silly, arbitrary, and rediculously outdated. The other problem I can only speak about for the german language, the problem is that they have no RULE for greating the plural of a noun. It is one of 3 ways which are completely arbitrary (ie. changing u to ü, or adding an 'e' to the end of a word). English on the other hand is much more logical than german: ONE article: 'THE'. ONE way to create plurals: ADD an S! (of course as with everything, with exceptions). So everyone should thank us native speakers that we speak the most democratic and logical language in the world - anyone can learn it and use it without having to have memorised senseless outdated concepts like 'grammatical gender'. Ich finde es total interessant zu beobachten, wie jemand Deutsch lernt. Wer Lust hat kann mir gerne selbst verfasste Texte o.ä. zukommen lassen, damit ich sie korrigiere. Ich weiß es auch sehr zu schätzen, wenn jemand Deutsch lernt, besonders bei Englisch sprechenden Leuten, da es von Weltoffenheit zeugt, auch mal über den eigenen Tellerrand hinaus zu schaun. Natürlich achte ich es genauso bei allen anderen, auch wenn sie nicht Englisch als Muttersprache sprechen. Ich für meinen Teil habe in der Schule Latein, Englisch, Französisch und Spanisch gelernt.
Also, ich bin gespannt ob jemand mein Angebot wahrnimmt!

Also ich habe Deutsch gelernt,Im secondar schule.Es ist eine große Hilfe bei meiner gegenwärtigen Studie der germanischen Sprachen (zusammen mit Englisch),Ich habe auch ein fasination für die similararitäten zwischen Deutsch und Niederländisch.
I'm a beginner/intermediate learning German by self-study. I'd appreciate anyone's recommendations for German authors who write in a straightforward style: not-too-difficult to read and yet interesting.

He seems to say that english would not be a European language too... this language is born and have been formed as a language in this part of the world long time before USA...

adding an "s" at the end of the word is especially coming from french. the anglo-saxon decided to use the french rule instead of the old germanic one (that still exist : ex child - children) because they saw it was simple and logical just putting an "s" to mark plural.
