Speeds of Spanish.

I have a few Mexican-American friends whose parents are Defeño. I went to their house the other day, and I could hardly keep up with the conversations that were going on in Spanish. My speech seemed retarded compared to theirs because they spoke so fast. I was a little embarrased because I had to ask them to repeat several times.

Anyway, the question I came up with was, which Spanish-Speaking region in the world speaks the fastest? I listened to Peruanos speaking once, and they spoke even faster than Defeños; so fast that at first I didn't even think they were even speaking Spanish. Otherwise, I haven't been as exposed to remarkably fast Spanish. Will someone enlighten me?

Spanish is spoken the fastest in Northwest Peru, and the slowest in Panama.

Defeño is the term for people from Mexico City - kinda like Chilango.

In general, I think Spaniards are the fastest, the rest could be similar. It could depend on the area though.

Yo soy Mexicano, y nunca habia escuchado el térmno "Defeno".
Me imagino que una especie de "slang" que proviene de la abreviación "DF". (La ciudad de México, se llama tambíen México D.F. que significa México Distrito Federal, algo asi como Washinton D.C, es una abreviación para Distrito de Columbia), para referirse a alguien que vive en el DF (La ciudad de México).

Sin embargo, es mejor usar la palabra "Chilango" para referirse a las personas que viven en el DF (La ciudad de México), ya que "Defeño" no es una palabra conocida por mucha gente, (la gran mayoría en México no van a entender probablemente la palabra).

P.D. "Los chilangos", no hablan tan rápido desde mi punto de vista.

Es muy posible, los "chilangos", de todos los habitantes de México, pueden ser los mas "perversos".

Me sorprendió que yo comprendo lo que dije Sigma! Aprendo el Espanol en la escuela, pero no pensaba que mis habilidades eran tan bueno ;] Estadounidenses no son famosos por nuestros habilidades de aprender otras lenguas y otras culturas. =D Es el opuesto, no?

Pero este pregunta me hace curioso. Dónde se habla el espanol más rapidamente? En adicion, dónde se habla el ingles más rapidamente? La Inglaterra o Los Estados Unidos?

Me sorprende haber comprendido/ que haya comprendido lo que dijo sigma. Aprendo el español en la escuela, pero no pensaba que mis ¿habilidades? fueran/eran tan buenas. Los estadounidenses no somos famosos por nuestras ¿habilidades? en aprender otras lenguas y culturas.

Pero esta pregunta me crea curiosidad. ¿Donde se habla el español mas rapidamente?. Además, donde se habla el inglés mas rapidamente?. ¿En Inglaterra o en los Estados Unidos?.

You will never find your native tongue fast. This happens alot to people who are mastering a language because they start from slow. what I do is listen to the radio to get to the habit of hearing a normal coversational talk.

No doubt the spaniards are the fastest in speaking.
