Attitude on SLAVIC LANGUAGES

Maybe the bad attitude on slavic languages has political roots
Vasilis   Mon Dec 25, 2006 12:18 am GMT
Michael,

Maybe you are right. I would say that languages and their tone depend on the life conditions and hardships one goes through. For example, since slavs came as slaves in the balkans, they kept them in large caves in the beginning, and so, they were forced to develop their vocal cords to communicate with their captors from deep below. With time, when they borrowed croatian as their language, they adopted their cords to the new language and that's why serbian language sounds "strong" these days.

the derivation of Slav from slave,is used by the Nazis as a pseudo-linguistic justification for some of their atrocities against Slavs.

Someone on this topic, named Goran has a different story...
Can someone shed some light into all this mistery please, for us who don't have that kind of information?

It's not the language that has an attitude, but it's the people who speak it that have an attitude. Have you read what greeks in here post about others and how offending they are to everyone? Why nobody talks about that? Or is it that different?

They go and start all kinds of topics to denigrate slavs afterwards, like we are nobody. It's not fair if some uneducated serbian or croat had messed up and you go in a vendeta against all slavs. Who cares that greeks look identical like turks, darkskins without mustaches, so what?

I just read it
and Brennus supported the Greeks and closed the topic

Re: "What are you guys talking about? Are you creazy or what? Everybody knows that there are no real greeks living today in Greece. Whoever lives in Greece right now is either turk or arab who speaks greek..." Boban

Boban,

I largely disagree even though I've heard this from other people before many times in my life.

Instead, I would argue almost the opposite... that a good many Osmanli Turks are actually Byzantine Greeks who simply speak Turkish and follow the Muslim religion in much the same way many Latin Americans are are not Spanish but rather, pre-Columbian peoples who speak Spanish and follow the Catholic Christian religion. History shows that if the choice is conversion to a new religion or death, most people will still choose conversion. With a new religion, often comes a new language too.

The Greeks seem to be a very ancient people like the Chinese. Both peoples have been living in their respective areas for a long time; both peoples also had the most advanced civilizations on the Eurasian supercontinent for a long time, right up until about the 14th century A.D.

Modern Greek is of course, different from Ancient Greek but as the late Romance linguist Mario Pei once said, (it) "is still closer to Ancient Greek than Italian is to Latin"

Who offended who under slavic nicknames?

Bogdan Thu Dec 14, 2006 3:18 am GMT
Ion,

You are not Romanian, you are just a short, fat, ball-headed, penny-less greek who spends his little retirement money on booze and listening to turkish music with greek lyrics; and eats old potato chips when posting in this forum.

And Calliope is a widow whose husband killed himself, trying to escape the pain of living with her. Or might even be a pedophile Greek orthodox priest who likes to act like a woman on forums in a desperate way to be who he/she really is, a monster.

You "people" can be anything, but in the eyes of whoever posted in this forum, you are ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Dear Janis Ionidis

I read postings at that topic and to tell you the truth, I enjoyed them so very much. I must admit that Bogdan has a nice sense of humor. I loved his comments. Have you heard what happened to that greek guy, Sotiris? I want te read more postings from him...

Thank you for the good time you provided us with! :-)

You greeks are entering into a lost battle. Do you really dare to argue with slavs on forums? You look so ridiculous...

Don't offend the ROMANIANS

Romanians, greeks, polish, french, whatever, DON'T MESS WITH SERBIANS! You will lose like always. Serbians don't need support from some stupids in this forum. Slaves or no slaves, we are now habitants of balkan peninsula, so shut up.

I told you;
Your diagnosis is NCD. Nationallity Confusion Disorder. Unfortunately they do not make a pill for it. But if you take a look in the mirror and you like the what you see for sure you will find out that your good looks come from your ancestors ie Illyrians & your diagnosis will disapear. If you don't like what you see; than you're just out of luck. Your Albanian, Illyrian is pretty good. Keep going FYTYRE MUT!

which means "Shit on your face"

I always believed that my mother tongue, which is greek, had no connection with the other balkanic languages, but a few weeks ago i heard the slavic language that is spoken in the former republic of macedonia. At first i took it for greek, only when some time passed, i realised what it was. There is really a connection or i made a mistake.Until then i found that greek had same sounds with spanish.I'd like to know your opinion.
