How to pronounce Years...?

In common colloquial dialogue, most English-speakers say "the nineties" or "the sixties" when referring to certain decades, but what is it that we are going to call this decade-- the decade of 2000-2010? The zeros? the twenty-o's? Is there a new term going around that I am unaware of, or has this not been decided yet? It's interesting and I'd like to hear of others' opinions/knowledge on this.

>> turn of the millenium; noughties; the aughts <<

All of those sound right awful. I don't expect to be using any of those phrases. Is there a more aesthetic expression?

How do you pronounce "noughties" and "aughts?"

And where did those words come from? What do they mean?

The "two thousands" is a common way to refer to this decade.

"noughties" and "aughties" are pronounced with the sound of the "ough" in "thought".

The current decade is the two thousands. "Noughties" sounds too comical.
