Is there officially a difference between 'till' and 'until'? I have alwasy wondered.
Till/Until
Nope. "Till", also spelled "til" or "'til", is just a more colloquial or informal way of saying "until".

"till" is actually an older form than "until". The spellings "til" and "'til" are backformations of "until" by people mistakingly thinking that "till" was a clipped form of "until".

"Until" is the more upper-class version. Lower-educated people use "till".

Educated people use neither one.

One's just the short version of the other, and neither has anything to do with class. I don't know where Sox got that idea from.

Literary/formal and informal, yes, but that has nothing to do with the kind of notion that Sox apparently has.
