Aloud and allowed

I recently noticed that in my speech aloud and allowed sound the same.
Do you differentiate between them?

Mainstream speakers in the UK don't.

And the poor guy probably doesn't spend all of his spare time avidly awaiting replies.

I pronounce them both the same. I've heard foreign speakers of English pronounce them differently, but not native speakers.
