Do you pronounce the ending of "chamomile" as "mile" or "meel"?

Or if you're conducting a poll, I have no idea because I'd never heard of it.

I've heard it both ways. I didn't know how to pronounce it for years, because I never heard anyone say it when I was a child.

Actually, I think I've heard something more like "mill" than "mile", but I've heard "meel" more often.

I pronounce it with "meel".

I'm not a native or anything, but always heard "meel" in TV shows...

I've never heard anything but the "meel" pronunciation...

I'm surprised to see that the Cambridge Online Dictionary only gives the "mile" pronunciation. I think I've only heard "meel" here in the US.

mile ... would never say meel ...

I say it as "meel". As Lazar pointed out, I have also never heard "mile" in the US.

I'm surprised at the responses to this post! I have never in my life heard it pronounced as "meel". For me it is most definitely chamoMILE. And it's one of my favourite teas.

I've always said "mile" (long I), but I could also attribute that to rarely ever hearing it said out loud by anyone else.
