Happy Hogmanay! Happy New Year!

To all fellow Scots: Happy Hogmanay! A guid New Year!

To everyone else: Happy New Year!

Tonight is the highlight of the Scottish year - the night we all go wilder than we normally are. If you sing Auld Lang Syne tonight then why not sing the proper words? Not your old "for the sake of auld lang syne" stuff! At least the Americans get it right more or less as the original words of Robbie Burns included "and days of old lang syne" but true Scots sing it as in the following link. Also - you should NOT link arms in the cross over fashion - merely hold the hands of the people on either side of you and form the chain that way.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

CHORUS:

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

CHORUS

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

My home city is THE place to be tonight and that's for sure! We make one BIG party of the whole season here in Scotland - and the Winter Festival brightens up the cold, dark winter days here in Edinburgh.

Happy Hogmanay! Guid New Year! See you when I'm sober again! :-)
