I heard of some Texan that once proposed replacing "hello" with "heaveno" claiming, well hell is bad. What do you think about this proposal?

That's silly

I've never heard that... If you were to say that in Texas you'd immediately identify yourself as a foreigner.

I suspect that this group that objects to "hello" is just trying to get attention with their campaign. Why not just replace "hello" with "hi", if you object to "hello"? I suppose these folks would also have problems with helicopter" (if they look at pronunciation), and possibly "shell" (if they look at spelling).

What about silent h in "bell" or "well"?

I think this is a joke, of course.

This sort of thing is silly indeed.

My mother does this with deviled eggs. She (and my sister) call them 'angel[ed] eggs' which I think is just plain stupid--every Thanksgiving we have devi-, I mean "ANGEL [d@mn] EGGS" and I can't stand it.

I try and explain them: "To devil something means to make something hot and spicy", but NO...(sigh)
