Hugh Grant?

Well, I know Hugh Grant is from London, right? But I don't think his accent is cockney, or is it? What's his called? I really love it. It sounds so posh and elegant.

I can't be certain...but it's probably a posh accent.
Kristin   Monday, July 28, 2003, 00:57 GMT
Poshy cocky.
Clark   Monday, July 28, 2003, 01:26 GMT
He sounds RP-ish to me.
David Bosch   Monday, July 28, 2003, 03:38 GMT
Yes, He sounds RP to me as well.
Simon   Monday, July 28, 2003, 06:19 GMT
Yes, posh. RP, Eton, etc.
Tom   Monday, July 28, 2003, 09:38 GMT
If you want to sound like Hugh Grant, all you need to do is learn to use three words: "frightful", "dreadful", and "quite".
Simon   Monday, July 28, 2003, 10:25 GMT
Well quite.

[Hugh Grant's] contrition was so winning that one cartoonist suggested he could make big money as a spokesman for governments accused of human rights abuses. (On Saddam Hussein's gassing of the Kurds: "Rather a bad move ... terribly sorry." On the Serb-led slaughter in Sarajevo: "Most embarrassing ... frightful lapse in judgment.")

Yes but then we have a strong diplomatic tradition.

Captain Darling on his way to fight on the front line (and almost certainly be killed) in Blackadder Goes Forth (imagine stereoptypically British phlegma):
- Made a note in my diary on my way here. Simply says 'bugger'.
Antonio   Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 13:39 GMT
I wouldn´t say Hugh is RP.
Posh? Yes, but be careful when saying that. Londoner, yes. RP? No.
Antonio   Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 13:41 GMT
All foreigners confuse RP.
franke potente   Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 18:47 GMT

Chantal   Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 20:31 GMT
