I agree that Christmas has been over-commercialised, I don't like it at all either. With your "filled with thoughts about what Christmas really means," you sound as if you're Christian so why not be merry about those thoughts?

I sure there would be some out there who'd be offended or confused even by your wishing them a "Joyous holiday season": extreme Christians would say that you're forgetting who Christmas is about and extreme atheists would say that "holiday" comes from "holy day".
