I don't know if you can use these terms with an identical signification english/french but for example :

- Les oies sauvages ont migré vers l'est.

- C'est un immigré originaire d'Espagne

I think it has a political conotation with racism, by emigrés may be some french only think about algerians. As you know they are the equivalent of turkish in Germany, the indians in England ...

In that way that's true, when a politician use this term like Lepen, there must be something racist so a political con(n)otation.
