... language learning sources? I'll be most grateful if you directed me to them.

Juan,

The best online resource dedicated to Portuguese grammar and linguistics is Ciberdúvidas (run by a team of Portuguese and Brazilian linguists, professors and writers).

http://ciberduvidas.sapo.pt

It's an excellent site, but you have to be able to read Portuguese.

If you want to learn some phrases for tourists etc., try the BBC:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/other/portuguese/talk/

(you'll need a flash player for the BBC link)

If you want to listen to spoken Portuguese (from Portugal), check out the RTP's (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal) Web site:

www.rtp.pt

Go to the "video" section and you'll be able to watch the news (a RealPlayer is required)

While the Brazilian media giant Globo used to offer news clips, one now has to register to view them. For Brazilian radio, Radiobrás has online radio stations and I think some video as well:

Pardon me, go to the "TV" section of the RTP's Web site to find the online news programs. It used to be "video," but they changed the site around a little bit.

If you directly want to learn something about the portuguese language from a native speaker, try this link:

Oh...but I know close to nothing about the Brazilian/Portuguese language. I was hoping more for learner oriented resources, like dictionaries with phonetic transcriptions and the like.
