Graham

Kirk - never heard of them, sounds a bit funny that a cracker is Graham to me *lol*
Kirk   Friday, May 06, 2005, 03:17 GMT
I did a google picture search for them, so you can see what they look like:

Also, if you're familiar with smores, that's the kind of cracker you need to use to put the chocolate and marshmallows on.

I pronounce Graham (the name) as Frances does: "I say Gray-um (um is schwaed though) "

I pronounce graham (the cracker) as "gram." And I've never had a smore. What kind of American am I?!

I saw a receipe for "Sri Lanka Beef Smore Stew." Could it possibly be...

Oh, Deborah, you've never had a smore? My recommended technique: toast the marshmallows golden on the campfire but also allow the chocolate to warm and get slightly gooey before making the smore (you can do this by setting the pieces of chocolate on their wrapper and then you place it near the fire). That way, the chocolate is already hot and melty when you make the smore, making it extra delicious and messy.

Kirk - no we don't have Grahams. We do have Nabisco presence here.

Here are some Aussie biscuits for you - Tim tams. They are fantastic and coated in chocolate. You can stick them in coffee and can drink through them, the cream in the middle liquifies - that is called a "tim tam slammer" you must try it if you come down here.

I also pronounce it Gray-um. That's our countries Cricket Captain's name. Hear it quite a lot, many times it is pronounced Gram by other countries commentators.
We don't have Graham cookies here, Our favourite cookies are Baker Biscuits. Yummie!

Ooo...I looked at the link...Tim tams sound like they'd be great with coffee, as you said. I'll look for 'em when I get to Oz. Actually, speaking of that, I'm seriously considering teaching English in S. Korea after I graduate (in June 2006) and I've heard that flights from East Asia to Australia tend to be pretty reasonable (at least compared to flights from the US to Australia)...if it weren't too expensive to fly and I had a little time off I'd love to go to Australia and New Zealand. Anyone have any ideas on how expensive these flights usually are?

Kirk, thanks for the advice, but I probably won't be trying any smores -- have to maintain my slim, girlish figure.

Kirk, the fact is, I've lost my taste for toasted marshmallows. A few years ago I went camping at Lake Tahoe and, for old time's sake, tried a toasted marshmallow, something I hadn't had in about 40 years. My tastes have changed, apparently.

Back when I did like toasted marshmallows, I discovered a great treat on one of my family's annual trips to Tahoe. You toast a marshmallow enough that you can pull off the golden brown, melted, outside layer, and stuff it with a strawberry or a pineapple or banana chunk, or fruit of your choice. You can get several marshmallow "cups" out of one marshmallow.
Deborah   Friday, May 06, 2005, 21:12 GMT
pineapple = pineapple chunk (unless you have an enormous marshmallow)

Kirk - get the double coated ones, even more deadly
