"Welcome Home" in Polish.

I have a friend returning from a visit to Poland and I want to greet him in Polish when he gets here. What's a suitable, colloquial phrase?

"Witaj w domu" is how I would translate it but I don't think it's colloquial (that's how we greeted John Paul II when he was in Poland, but you could say this to a member of your family as well).
The pronunciation is /'vitay v 'domu/, I think.

try "czesc !" - ('Cheshch' !) - he'll know what you mean. And no, it isn't something rude.

You could say 'kopa lat' - something like :"(its been) a heap of years"

Spierdalai = is the most familiar one.

Would Poles understand "dobrodojde" or "dobrososli"?

Jan - jestes niegrzecznym chlopakiem . Spierdalaj is a very naughty word, not suitable for welcoming commitees, although it could be used for rather abrupt farewells.

I think Dobrodosli means 'well/good he came' all mangled together ! But in context it is fairly obvious.
