Interesting. I was surprised that I understood some of the Bulgarian! Dang! There really IS something about studying two Slavic languages.

Some people are going to hate this, but this I why I hate sloppy speech in English. When Mariah Carey sings this, she DOES but a "v" on "live", but it's not strong.

So is that really Bulgarian? I have no idea!

Sorry, put a "v" on "live". I promise I have not studied Korean or Arabic today.

I don't understand why they insist on singing songs in english. Are there no good songs in their native languages??

No one on American Idol has ever sang a song in a foreign language.

In the first 10 seconds, was the female host speaking or pretending to speak English? :/

It's Bulgarian.

What's the big deal? Why don't you try and sing a song in Bulgarian?

Although I do agree it is a bit silly the way they all sing in English, like they worship us... I mean, even the show has an English name... how pathetic is that?
Guest   Mon Mar 24, 2008 10:32 am GMT
The show has an English name 'cause it's a franchise.
Nobody is worshiping you, rest assured. The song is popular, that's all.
There's no big deal, it's just simply funny.

''Are there no good songs in their native languages?? ''

That's a silly question.

Then why don't they sing those songs, instead of American pop music (that they cannot pronounce)?? It seems like its the same in all of these "idol" shows all over the world.

"Why don't you try and sing a song in Bulgarian?"

Why would anybody do that??

Americans wouldnt be foolish enough to try to sing a song in Bulgarian - if they cannot speak or pronounce it.

I've heard many Americans sing in Italian and Japanese sing in English and they were terrible too. It happens.

I could understand some of his English. I knew that it WAS English. His voice wasn't bad at all for the song.

I'm a pretty hard critic. I come from an opera family. When I consider those whose English is incomprehensible and who sing (Whoa!) way off pitch, then he isn't bad.
