How to develop a native sound of US accent for non-native speakers of English? Do they have to live in US in order to speak native-sounding US accent?

I suppose so...you'd probably have to hear the accent all the time.
Still, not all people are able to get rid of their own accent when learning a new language (even after 30 years)

You should be in constant contact with native speakers (and try to listen to them and imitate their accent)...Much of the language learning should be on a sub-concious level (learning by immersion/absorption/difusion rather than learning by grammar & usage books)
