Sub- Super- prefixes

I have trouble with sub- (and super-). Where does the main stress go when I modify a word with those prefixes? It seems there isn't a consistent rule. For example in "subset" and "subscript" the stress is on "sub", but I'm sure there are a lot of other words that don't change the stress. Here are a few examples...

Subdomain
Subnetwork
Subchapter

I suspect that only short names allow the shift (like "set" or "graph"), but longer names (like "domain"), adjectives and verbs don't change the stress.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I was under the impression that the stress is on the first syllable in "SUBnetwork" and "SUBchapter", and probably "SUBdomain", too. The stress is not on "sub" in words like "subaCUTE", "subLIME". and is on both syllables in "SUBLET".

As usual with English spelling and pronunciation, it appears there's no ironclad rule at work here.
