Which is the longest one-syllable word in your language?

In English I think it's "scrootched".

In French I think it's "Schtroumpfs" (= Smurfs)

il me vient à l'esprit ce mot en polonais (un peu tiré par les cheveux): przechść (się) - reconvertis(-toi)

In Spanish all "syllables" are short, because if they had more letters they would have more sounds.

C'est schtroupfement schtroumpf ce que tu schtroumpfes !

another for English is "scraunched", the past tense of 'scraunch'

Probably the longest monosyllabic "common" word in English in terms of phonemes which is not contrived is "strengths", which here is [ˈʃʲtʃʲɹ̠ẽŋkθs] from /ˈstreŋkθs/ here.

Equal in length is "stretched" for common words with 9 bookstaffs, or letters

Yeah, but "stretched" has less phonemes in most English dialects; here it is [ˈʃʲtʃʲɹ̠ɜ̟ʔtʃt] from /ˈstrɜtʃt/, which has one less phoneme. One must remember that /tʃ/ is a single phoneme and not a phoneme pair in English.
Travis   Tue May 27, 2008 10:01 pm GMT
Actually, make that "two less phonemes" above.

Perhaps, but who said anything about phonemes?

We were asked for the longest one syllable word

In Spanish the longest one syllable is "siesta". At least 3 hours. Two syllables? Don't be picky!!!

Je crois que tu n'as pas saisi le sens de "longueur". La longueur d'un mot n'est pas nécessairement la distance linéaire qui sépare le premier graphème du dernier graphème. La longueur est également la distance temporelle qui sépare le premier phonème du dernier phonème.
