What "dara boy" probably really is is "that-a boy" with stopping of initial /D/, and with "r" really representing [ɾ] or [ɾ̥] from /t/ as heard by someone whose native language treats [ɾ] as a rhotic.
"sure it wasn't: " 'at-a boy! " (=that's a boy!/that's my boy!)?"
but the person who said that to other person wasnt the parent or family of the other person
