I only recognize 3 and 8.

...I can guess what language families some of the others are in, but thats it.

#3 is Spanish and #8 is French, right?

I am not European so I am not very postive.

#7 sounds kind of German to me because I definitely heard the word "Deutschland" in the middle of the voice. (Again, I'm not that postive!)

7) sounded more like Dutch to me, granted I don't speak either so going largely on accent; 3/8 you got.

2) I'm 95% sure is Czech, maybe Slovak; 1) sounds Slavic as well; I'm hering "ze nevim" "that I don't understand" in many Slavic languages.

other I could only guess though I believ 5 is Mandarin or Cantonese.

I think 4 is Swedish.

Either way, you should provide better samples, I can barely hear anything.

I know that 3 is Spanish, 7 is Dutch, and 8 is French.

Number 4 sounds like Swedish. Number 6 is obviously an Eastern Asian language. I don't know about the rest of them.

6 must be Japanese
It's Korean   Fri Jul 11, 2008 4:00 pm GMT
<6 must be Japanese>

No! Sample 6 is definitely Korean (Jeju Island Dialect which is quite different from Standard Korean)

I think number six is Korean, but there is something very different about it.

This may explain why Caspian went for "Japanese" here. I don't have knowledge about Korean dialects. I suppose Alexander A. "Prof A." may be able to answer some questions about it over at HTLAL.

The intonation is what struck me about this sample.

It's fun when we get some of these language identification files.
