'alfresco' Can any one tell the exact meaning of the word?

As per my knowledge concerns the meaning of 'alfresco' is open air.

But am I right? If 'no' then please tell me the exact meaning of the word.

Thanks

It means outside. As in "dining alfresco" -- you'll be at a table on the patio, not inside the restaurant.

Surely that wouldn't have been too hard to look up?

Still it's not clear to me whether it's an American word or UK word.

Plz clear me.

I think it's an Italian word, actually.

It gets used occasionally in the US; I don't have any idea if it's used in the UK or not.

There was a British sitcom with that title in the 80s starring Hugh Laurie, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson.
