that is a part of a sentence from the article "Peter Drucker's Monumental Legacy" of Businessweek.

The whole sentence is [ While known for nudging companies to be more efficient and innovative, Drucker remained, in Witty's view, a "European social communitarian like one of the Christian Democratic politicians" ]

what's the connotaion of "nudging"? bad or good?

and in terms of 'While known for nudging companies to be more efficient and innovative', is it Drucker that was known for that? is that what it means??

Nudging has a good connotation -- it means gently pushing just a little bit -- and it is Drucker who is known for it.
